Provision Of Essential Oils Guide

By Nancy Gardner

Essential oils are not real oils because they lack fatty acids which are present in actual oils. A common definition of oil is any highly concentrated constituent of plants with potential medicinal and aesthetic qualities. Another common one terms the oil as the soul or life force of the plant. This article is about providing an essential oils guide.

A lot of them have high levels of antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral characteristics. That is why they are a good addition in cleaning solutions made at home. The great ones for use in cleaning include lemon, rosemary, grapefruit, lavender, eucalyptus, tea tree and lavender. It is important to determine their degree of purity. The pure ones should evaporate without leaving behind a ring when placed on a construction paper. If a ring is left on evaporation, then the products contains some impurities.

Their molecular size is very minute and this property allows them to be well absorbed through the skin surface. That is why they are often times added in items made for personal care to nourish, soften and heal the skin. The better part is that they do not collect in the system like their counterparts which may end up been harmful.

Research reports have demonstrated that essential oil derived from rosemary improves the performance of brain. Smelling of the oil has been associated with better memory and high performance in the various tests taken. The smelling of oil extracted from lavender or rosemary also causes a feeling of relaxation.

These oils are not fragrances. Fragrance, perfume and fragrance oils refer to products which have been made synthetically. This is why it would be wrong to use these terms in reference to essential oil because it is wholly natural.

The oils are completely naturally and cannot be interfered with. That is why there are not sold in chemists. Also, the medical practitioners rarely do use them as an alternative to the conventional drugs. Because it is not possible to patent them, the drug production companies never bother to fund research projects concerning them. This is way there is limited scientific information about the oil and the available information is mostly what has been transmitted down from ancient times from years of experimentation and use at a personal level.

The plants are required in large quantities for production of the oil. A pound of Bulgarian rose essential oil requires 4000 pounds of the plant while one hundred pounds of lavender plant material produces a pound of essential oil. Because their concentrations need to be high, tons and tons of plant material are required in the process.

Use of these oils in their original concentrations is discouraged. This is because skin reactions may result. They need to be diluted using butter, waxes, alcohol and other measures used in dilution. Nevertheless some are safe to use without possibly diluting them. However, a number of them have been tested and proven to be safe for use without been possibly diluting them. The list includes sandalwood, rose geranium, German chamomile and tea tree. More research is advised to get well informed.
